Okome Clarkston
If you're on the hunt for an Asian-fusion gem tucked away in the heart of Clarkston, Okome Clarkston on The Toll is one of those spots you discover once and never stop talking about. Nestled in Glasgow’s G76 district, this cosy, modern restaurant delivers a vibrant blend of Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian flavours-with a menu that feels like a culinary passport to the East.
As soon as you step in, the vibe is warm yet trendy, with soft lighting and a subtle modern aesthetic. And yes, for those wondering, Okome Clarkston is fully accessible, with a wheelchair-friendly entrance, toilet, and seating-something that makes dining inclusive and relaxed.
Now, let’s talk food. If sushi is your thing, prepare to be impressed. Their Salmon and Tuna Nigiri and Dragon Roll are standout stars-fresh, balanced, and plated with flair. But Okome isn’t just a sushi joint. The Chicken Katsu is golden and crisp with just the right crunch, while their Chicken Gyoza-lightly pan-fried and served piping hot-hits that comforting, savoury note perfectly.
Ramen lovers are in for a treat, too. The Chilli Chicken Ramen delivers heat without overpowering, and the Spicy Tofu Ramen is a rich, vegan-friendly alternative that packs flavor into every bite. If you're craving something a bit different, their Beef Bibimbap comes sizzling with bold Korean flavours, while the Shojin Yakisoba with Curry Sauce offers a surprisingly addictive twist.
For lighter fare, the Chicken Sesame Poke Bowl is a fresh, healthy option, mixing crunch, protein, and zingy dressing in every spoonful. And let’s not overlook the Tofu & Mushroom Bibimbap, a vegetarian bowl that's satisfying without sacrificing depth.
Feeling thirsty? Okome’s bubble tea selection is a big win for locals. The Pineapple & Passionfruit Bubble Tea is tropical and slightly tart, the kind of drink you’ll want to sip slowly. And if you’re in the mood for something stronger, they’ve got alcohol, beer, and wine on hand to pair with your meal-perfect for casual dates or laid-back dinners.
Beyond the food, what really makes Okome Clarkston stand out is the flexibility. Whether you're stopping by for a quick lunch, planning a solo dinner after work, or grabbing takeaway on a rainy evening, this spot has you covered. They also offer no-contact delivery, which has become a must for many in recent times.
And while the food shines, so does the service. Staff here are attentive without being overbearing, always ready with a suggestion if you’re undecided between ramen or poke. There’s also a clear effort to cater to different dietary preferences, with vegetarian, vegan, and healthy options marked clearly across the menu.
What’s more, Okome manages to walk that fine line between being both an ideal spot for a casual midweek bite and a weekend destination when you're craving something fresh, fun, and packed with umami.
If you're into tea, by the way, their great tea selection is worth mentioning twice. From traditional Miso Soup starters to dessert-friendly Poutine surprises, there’s a little bit of everything-each dish thoughtfully crafted, generously portioned, and visually pleasing.
There’s a reason why locals keep this place on their repeat list. Okome Clarkston isn’t just about good food-it’s about variety, comfort, and a little bit of culinary adventure right in your neighbourhood.
Reviews
I had previously given a star review and having been multiple times the food and service was always great however my most recent visit was disappointing. The prawns used in the tempura were not not de-veined rendering them inedible. The rest of the food was great however when mentioning the issue to the server it was brushed off. I was further disappointed to find that the bathroom labelled disabled had the emergency cord cut at the ceiling rendering it useless.
Every time I go to Okome, there's one thing that sets it apart from everywhere else. The food is phenomenal, the workers lovely and the atmosphere is great, but what really sets them apart is consistency. Every time I go, it is the same fantastic standard, the same portions of food, the same set up every time.I'm more likely to go to Clarkston for Okome than I am to travel into Glasgow for any of the other big names.Vegetarian options: Fantastic wealth of vegetarian options, my mum doesn't eat meat at all and there's is still an amazing amount of food for her to choose from.
Visited Okome for lunch and had their lunch deal, courses for .. The food was so tasty and such good value for money, the chicken katsu was flavoursome and rich, i did have to ask for more sauce though but the staff were so happy to give me more. I really enjoyed it and would happily reccomend and eat there again to try other things on the menu.
